I Feel death / by renee mckenna

I feel death

Even as the sun shines

through the flowering trees

I feel death

Even as the red moon rises

Over the cooling playa

I feel death

Even as my own life

rises before me

And my children grow strong

And love sits

deeply in my heart

I feel death

As my book is published

As new people

listen to my voice daily

Because each new birth

Is a death

The old must die

For the new to come

As the caterpillar must

sacrifice itself

To become a moth

And fly
